Behind The Scenes: Our Favorite Memories Of 2019

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to work inside our Mississippi bakery? Well, as we head into the New Year, we can’t help but reminisce about some of our favorite memories in 2019. Here are some behind the scenes highlights.

According to Sanitation Worker Darina Young, it was a big year for some instrumental people at the bakery. Her favorite memory was watching two of her favorite co-workers retire, that includes her boss Mrs. Mireille DeBeukelaer and fellow employee, Ms. Jeanette Daniel. Jeanette hung up her apron after 35 years and was one of Pirouline’s first employees.

Aron Watkins, a Production Loader of 11 years, recalled a conversation with a co-worker as her favorite memory. Watkins said, their conversation inspired change and gave her the courage to speak her mind.

Batching Department Operator Joseph Otto also loved spending time with his co-workers. Joseph most enjoyed training a colleague on a new task this year. It was a great moment to bond and make the team stronger in the process.

Baker Apprentice Roshawn James and Tin Plant-Tech Chad Hulitt picked company events as their fondest memories. Chad picked the company Thanksgiving, and Roshawn loved the annual picnic. “It’s one of the few times everyone is able to come together for the entire day.”

That picnic is something that happens every Spring when the bakery shuts down to work on maintenance and special projects according to Human Resource Manager April Prince.“This year, the picnic was a carnival theme, and each department created its own booth. We had basketball, lucky ducks and darts. It was a new take on an old tradition and something everyone is looking forward to in 2020.”

Here at Pirouline, we’re certainly excited to see what the new decade will bring and promise to keep you updated about future projects happening in our Mississippi bakery. May your New Year be filled with Chocolate Hazelnut, Vanilla, Strawberry, and plenty of magical swirls.
