Step 1

Place Pirouline Cookies in freezer while preparing sugar cookie dough.

Step 2

Make sugar cookie dough: In standing mixer with paddle attachment, beat butter until light and fluffy. Add sugar, then eggs, then vanilla.

Step 3

Stir in baking powder and salt. Add flour and mix just until combined.

Step 4

Wrap dough in plastic wrap and place in fridge to chill for 1 hour.

Step 5

Preheat oven to 400-degrees. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

Step 6

Form Pirouline snake cookies: Remove cookie dough from fridge and break off whatever dough is being used for snake cookies. Dye designated dough green. Break green dough into smaller, evenly sized balls and roll each one out into a long "snake" shape.

Step 7

Remove Piroulines from freezer and, working as quickly as possible, wrap each "snake" shaped cookie dough around a Pirouline cookie. Place wrapped Piroulines on parchment paper lined cookie sheet.

Step 8

Place cookies in oven to bake for 6 minutes. Allow to cool on sheet before removing to a cooling rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Decorate: Once cookies have cooled, place a small amount of semisweet chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl and microwave for 20 second intervals, stirring after each one, until the chips have melted and are smooth. Transfer melted chocolate to a piping bag (or a ziploc baggie with a corner just barely snipped off). Pipe chocolate "snake" designs onto sugar cookie snake, such as stripes or zig zags, and eyes.

Step 10

Melt a small amount of white chocolate chips in the same manner and once smooth and melted, stir in some pink food dye to get your desired hue. Transfer chocolate to a piping bag and pipe smiles or snake tongues onto sugar cookie snakes. Allow chocolate to set before serving. Leftovers can be kept in an air tight container for up to a week, but they're best served the same day.
*Alternately, store bought sugar cookie can be used if you're tight on time.
