Steps to Complete

Step 1

Start by giving your tins a base coat of whatever color you want them to be. I used spray paint for this step, as it covers the logos printed on the tins the easiest.

aint both the tins and the lids.

Step 2

Next grab the acrylic paints and a paint brush! Paint on stripes of different sizes.

If you want *perfect* stripes, I would recommend wrapping painters tape around the tin to use as a guide, peeling it off after your paint dries. I just freestyled it.

Let dry.

Step 3

On the lid, you will want to add on a face! I kept mine simple, 2 black circles for eyes and U shaped mouth. To give your dragonfly "life" I recommend adding a couple of white dots to the eyes.

Step 4

Okay, now for the hardest part of the project (it's not THAT hard, I promise!).

Grab your floral wire. Fold a bow, like pictured below, the 2 loops will be the wings, and you want the end to be about 3" long.

Step 5

Add on 2 more loops, as pictured below, and wrap the wire around the middle a couple of times to secure them in place.

Step 6

With the extra wire, Make a 2" loop to hang your dragonfly from, wrapping a couple of times around the middle of the wings to secure it, and then trim the wire to 3" extra.

Step 7

Carefully use your awl to punch 2 small holes about 2" down from the front of your tin. (not too far back because you'll need to be able to reach them in the next step!)

Step 8

Place the 2 ends of your wire wings through the 2 punched holes.

Use your fingers and reach inside the tins to twist them together to secure them. If you can't reach them, try using a long pair of pliers!

Step 9

Replace the lid and hang your dragonfly!
